Organist & Pianist

Organist & Pianist

I am currently the appointed Organist and Director of Music at St. Paul’s Church, Barton, Newport, Isle of Wight.

I began piano lessons in the 1970’s and then organ lessons in the early 1980s, studying both piano and organ under the tuition of the late  Kathleen E Lower LRAM ARCM LTCL. Kathleen Lower was a highly respected Island piano and organ teacher who was organist at St. Thomas’s Newport, now Newport Minster. During the late 80s I became deputy organist at St. Paul’s Church, Barton, Newport and went on to become their appointed Organist in 1990.

During my time of study I took many examinations in piano (to Grade 8 Distinction) and organ (to Grade 5 Distinction) with the Association Board of the Royal School of Music and regularly took part in the Isle of Wight Music Competition Festival. I am a member of the Isle of Wight Organist’s Association and have played across the Island for weddings and funerals.

Along with the piano and organ I also play keyboard within the church worship band. In July 2020 I celebrated being Organist at St. Paul's for 30 years.

There's a short recital on my YouTube channel
